Troubleshooting Use these simple steps to solve these problems on the job:
1. Pump will not start. 1. Verify air tube is securely connected to both the pump/motor and the nipple fitting on the back of the air switch. Test by depressing the air switch and listen for a "clicking" noise emanating from the pump. The "click" indicates that the air switch is working and that means the air tube is connected at both ends. If this happens, go to #2. 2. Check circuit breaker. If circuit breaker is working, then likely the pump/motor has failed. Reset the GFCI and if it still does not operate, go to #3. 3. Call Clarke Customer Service. 2. Whirlpool pump was run without water in tub. This action could burn out the pump and void the
warranty. Bubble bath will have the same effect. A new pump will need to be ordered. 3. Hydro jet performance is poor or abnormal. 1. Check the adjustment on the jet by turning the "star" core counterclockwise to open fully. 2. Turn the motor off and remove the suction cover. Clean any debris on the cover, replace and turn the pump/motor back on. 4. Tub leaks. Verify and identify location of leak. Contact customer service to establish an appointment for a Clarke authorized service agent to inspect the tub. 5. Tub does not drain fully, or a certain area is holding water. 1. New acrylic tubs have high surface tension and water tends to form into large drops (the size of quarters) on the surface. This condition is normal and will diminish over time and use as the surface becomes abraded and the surface tension lessens. 2. If the drop size is larger than a quarter, and the tub is not draining properly, check the tub to ascertain that it is installed properly and is level. 6. On my Effervescence air tub, the blower motor starts on its own. This is normal as the air blower is equipped with an automatic purge cycle that will start 20 minutes after use. This purge will exhaust any remaining water in the system. 7. How do I turn on the whirlpool? On the upper deck of the whirlpool tub is a round air switch with a circular plunger. Depress the plunger to start and again to stop the pump. 8. Water leaks from the pump. 1. The disconnect fittings may be cracked. If so, they must be replaced. 2. The "O" ring (s) may be pinched or improperly seated. Unscrew the fittings and reseat the "O" ring into its seat. Tighten by hand and start the motor to check for leak 9. Whirlpool is operating but does not seem very strong. 1. Most likely the air control (s) is not full open. Turn it/them counterclockwise until the hydrotherapy action increases. 2. The adjustable jets are closed off. Turn the "star" core counterclockwise until the water flow improves. See #3 above. 10. Water sprays out of the tub. The water level is too low. Make sure the water level is at least 2" above the jets. If after following this guide and the problem cannot be corrected, contact Clarke customer service for further instructions.
